Introduction
The neighbour claimed that the tree on the client premises had caused building defects like cracking on the driveway, roof leakage, roof gutter chockage and water seepage at the side wall of his 2-storey semi-detached house in West Coast Place. We were engaged by the client to submit our expert opinion on the probable causes of these defects and the impact of the tree (an African Tulip of 15 m high).
Our value proposal
- A team of arborist, soil expert and our in-house knowledge of building sciences were brought together to work on the project
- Systematic classification of the defects and the vigorous review and analysis of the site condition and their possible impact on the different building components narrow down the neighbour’s damage claim
- The arborist expert knowledge on tree and his clear explanation of the impact of the different root system was pivotal in dispelling the major claim of damage to the foundation of the neighbour’s house
Conclusion
The expert report helped the client to bring down the claim to 20% of the original quantum. |
